Where to Eat on Abbot Kinney: A Venice Food Guide

Abbot Kinney Boulevard has been called "the coolest block in America" so often that locals roll their eyes. But this mile-long stretch of Venice still earns it, especially when it comes to food. Here's where to eat.
Gjelina
The restaurant that put Abbot Kinney on the dining map, and still its anchor. Gjelina (1429 Abbot Kinney Blvd) serves market-driven California cooking with Mediterranean influences: wood-fired pizzas, outstanding vegetable dishes, and a room full of energy from breakfast through dinner.
Felix
Chef Evan Funke's pasta temple is one of the most celebrated Italian restaurants in LA. Pasta is made by hand in a glass-walled room in the middle of the dining room. Order the rigatoni all'amatriciana, the pesto trofie, and the sfincione. Book ahead.
The Butcher's Daughter
A vegetarian favorite for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with cold-pressed juices, a full bar, and a mushroom-quinoa-beet burger that converts carnivores.
Salt & Straw
The Abbot Kinney shop (1357 Abbot Kinney Blvd) was Salt & Straw's first in LA, and the line is part of the experience. Flavors rotate monthly, so there's always something new.
Coffee
Fuel up at Blue Bottle or Intelligentsia, both local institutions on the boulevard.
Tips for Abbot Kinney
- Come hungry and graze: small plates and shared dishes are the norm here.
- Parking is tight on weekends, so bike or rideshare if you can.
- Leave time for the boutiques between meals.
